Assoc. Professor at Faculty of Physics, Warsaw University of Technology
Dr. Tomasz Karol Pietrzak is an Associate Professor of the Faculty of Physics at Warsaw University of Technology. His work in solid-state physics has been devoted mostly to investigating the nanocrystallisation phenomenon in electronic and mixed (electronic-ionic) conducting glasses, resulting in a giant increase in the electrical conductivity or confinement (stabilisation) effects. The research is motivated by the growing demand for high-performance materials for lithium/sodium-ion batteries and fuel cells for green energy applications. His research includes both experimental and computational methods. He gained international experience during several foreign study visits, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (USA), the University of Waterloo (Canada), and the National University of Singapore. He pays much attention to teaching new generations of physicists. He was granted numerous student awards of the “Golden Chalk” for conducting lectures on computer programming and tutorials on the fundamentals of physics. He proudly serves as an advisor to PhD students and surrounds himself with a young group of talented and hard-working graduate students.
